Sydney Water invests $1.6 million across Willoughby
Sydney Water is investing $1.6 million in water main renewal work to help maintain the reliability of the water supply system in Artarmon, Chatswood, Castlecrag and Willoughby.
Sydney Water’s partner, NetWorks Alliance, started renewal work in six streets across the Willoughby area. This work is part of a broader $104.9 million spend in 2012-13 on the drinking water distribution system across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra.
Sydney Water Managing Director Kevin Young said the work was an essential part of ensuring the capacity and life expectancy of the pipes.
“Keeping our water system in top shape is a priority because a well maintained network means we continue to provide a clean, safe and reliable water supply to our customers.”
“Sydney Water has made a substantial investment in quality water services that will benefit thousands of people in this area.”
Due to be completed in early 2013, the work is taking place in Neridah, Hercules and Kirk Streets, Chatswood, Walter Street, Willoughby, The Bulwark, Castlecrag and Hotham Parade, Artarmon.
Sydney Water will work with Council, Roads and Maritime Services and local residents to keep construction impacts to a minimum.
