Residents in Bexley, Rockdale, Arncliffe and Bardwell Valley areas advised of water supply shutdown tonight due to urgent repair works
Sydney Water is advising customers in the Bexley, (including Bexley shopping centre), Rockdale, Arncliffe, and Bardwell Valley that water supply will be shut off around 9pm tonight for urgent works to repair a burst water main in Bexley.
It is expected that around 6,500 properties in the affected areas will experience low water pressure, while others may be without water for the duration of the repairs.
Sydney Water crews will work as quickly as possible to repair the broken main and have water restored to the area. It is expected that work will be completed around 7am on Sunday morning, however this timing will be dependent on the scope of the repairs required.
Sydney Water crews have worked throughout the day in preparation for repair works later tonight to minimise the impact on customers and we are consulting closely with 11 critical customer locations, including rertirement homes in the area.
Unfortunately, the main cannot be repaired without the water supply to the pipe being shutoff.
To minimise the impact on customers Sydney Water crews have scheduled work to being around 8pm this evening when water use is at its lowest.
Sydney Water apologises for the inconvenience this will cause some customers.
Customers are encouraged to plan for overnight water use by filling additional containers.
If customers wish to request assistance during the shutdown or if they require further information they can contact our customer call centre on 13 20 90.
Information will be continually updated on Sydney Water’s Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as on the Sydney Water website.
